PRIMARYPROGRAM
a program for children ages 6- 9, equivalent to 1st through 3rd grades
The educational environment for the Primary Program at Welsh Hills School is designed to allow students to proceed and be challenged at their own pace. Learning experiences are often developed cooperatively with students and are based on students' individual needs with a strong focus on a manipulative, hands-on approach.
Our academic program addresses the need for children to learn to read, write, and compute with proficiency. Students work in a small group learning environment in an innovative, interdisciplinary academic program. This program is enriched by excursions out of the classroom that provide a variety of new social and educational experiences for the young child.
The Primary learning program consists of intensive studies in reading, composition, math, science, Spanish, social studies, music, art and physical education. Computers are liberally located throughout classrooms, and there are opportunities for collaboration with both older and younger students.
The School's Curriculum Guide is available by request, or can be downloaded here.
